How to set up multiple users logging in to 1 VPS, Multiple RDP Sessions Windows Server 2022
Multiple RDP Session Windows As a feature that allows multiple sessions to be opened to the same computer, the server allows users to access and work simultaneously on the computer without being restricted by other users when using a Remote Desktop. By default, Windows Server 2022 only allows connecting one session to a computer, this article will show you how to enable Multiple RDP Sessions in Windows Server 2022.
Add new users and grant permissions

Enable Multiple RDP Sessions
- Log in to Remote Desktop.
- Press the key Windows + R và ghi gpedit.msc then open it.
- Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections.
- Double-click Restrict Remote Desktop Services user to a single Remote Desktop Services session set to Disabled.
- Double-click the Limit number of connections. Choose Disable and press OK to unrestricted access connections. Alternatively, you can also select Enable to enter the number of connections allowed to access in the RD Maximum Connections allowed section. Once selected, click Apply, then click OK to save.
Subscribe to the service to allow more than 2 users to access Remote Desktop
- Type in the search box: Server Manager or click on the Server Manager icon
- When the Server Manager boot is complete, you select Manage > Add Roles and Features
- A new window pops up Next to continue
- Tick the box Role-based or feature-based installation and click Next
- Continue pressing Next
- In this step, tick select Remote Desktop Services and click Next
- Press Next
- Continue to press Next
- In this step, select 3 services: Remote Desktop Connection Broker, Remote Desktop Licensing, and Remote Desktop Session Host. After each tick, a confirmation panel will appear, please click Add Features, then press Next to move on to the next step.
- Tick the box “Restart the destination server automatically if required” and click the button Install. After the installation is complete, the system will automatically reboot, so you can create multiple users and login to 1 VPS at the same time
Note: I remind you that after the installation of the Remote Desktop Session Host role, users can use it only for 120 days of a trial period (evaluation license), and users can’t connect to an RDS host afterward. According to Microsoft licensing rules, all users or devices that use RDS features must be licensed. To register and issue Remote Desktop Client Access Licenses (RDS CALs), there is a separate Windows service in the RDS role called Remote Desktop License Server. If you can't to login via RDP anymore, access VPS via VNC console and remove Remote Desktop Licensing
