How to fix Add Roles and Features Error 0x800f081f on Window server 2022

We have a server installed with Windows Server 2022, when installing the IIS from Add Roles and Features it fails with the below error message

The request to add or remove features on the specified server failed. Installation of one or more roles, roles services, or features failed. The reference assembly could not be found. Error: 0x800f081f

We also installed it via PowerShell without success

We tried many different workarounds but below is the only thing that worked for us

Step 1: Download  Windows server 2022 ISO same as your existing version

Step 2: Mount the Windows 2022 ISO and run the setup.exe as an administrator.

Under Get updates, drives and options features

Select Not right now -> Enter next

Step 3: Select the image you want to install. In our case it is Window server 2022 Datacenter(Desktop Experience)

Next select “keep all the data and files”

Step 4: Install all the updates.

Normally this process will take about 15-20 minutes

Please note: You have to reactivate windows licence after this procedure

It restarts the servers to finish with the installation and after that I could successfully install the IIS from Add Roles and Features.
