Estimated reading: 2 minutes 53 views

Overview

When attempting to log in to Office 365 from a Windows 10 computer, users are getting a 404 error that reads:

“We can’t connect you. Looks like we can’t connect to one of our services right now. Please try again later, or contact your helpdesk if the issue persists. HTTP 404”

We have tried everything from repairing and reinstalling Office, checking for network issues, creating a new Outlook profile, removing/adding accounts… Nothing seems to work.

Cause

This error message is a Microsoft error message that could indicate a Windows registry setting has not been configured, or due to Internet Explorer settings

Solution

Here are 2 effective fixes for them. Try them if you are facing the same problem.

1. Update Internet Explorer settings

Go to Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings

Check box “Auto detect settings” > OK

You may need to cycle the “Automatically detect settings” check box for the fix to work

After these steps, reboot the computer. Outlook worked immediately after that, this also solved the Teams issue of not loading and showing “Please close the app and try again.”

2. Add a specific set of registry keys

Add the following registry key in: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity

“EnableADAL”=dword:00000000

“DisableADALatopWAMOverride”=dword:00000001

“DisableAADWAM”=dword:00000001

Note: If the above resolution does not solve the issue, open a support case with Microsoft Support.

Conclusion

That’s all, hope it helps you. If you have any questions, you can leave a comment below.
