Windows Firewall can not only protect your computer from malware and other security threats but can also be configured to block any program from accessing the internet. On your Windows server, open the Start Menu and go to Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/green.cloud\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Screenshot_1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Click on \u201cAdvanced Settings\u201d in the left pane of the Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p>Note: There is a lot going on in the advanced interface and we encourage you follow along closely, leaving anything outside the scope of the tutorial and your experience level alone. Click on\u00a0<strong>Outbound Rules<\/strong>. Here you can restrict internet access for a particular app.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of choosing &#8220;Inbound rules&#8221; we choose &#8220;Outbound Rules&#8221; because we are configuring rules from the server connecting to the outside<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/green.cloud\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Screenshot_4.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5. Click on\u00a0<strong>Program<\/strong>\u00a0and press\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/green.cloud\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Screenshot_7.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>7. Type the path where your program is installed or locate it with the Browse option. The application path is generally in the form\u00a0<code>C:Program Filesapplication.exe<\/code>\u00a0or\u00a0<code>C:Program Files(x86)application.exe<\/code>\u00a0where \u2018application\u2019 is the program\u2019s name you want to block from having internet access.<\/p>\n<p>In this tutorial we will block internet connection in firefox browser<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/green.cloud\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Screenshot_8.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>8. In the Action window, select\u00a0<strong>Block the connection<\/strong>. Press\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/green.cloud\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Screenshot_9.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>9. Select when your blocking rules apply to the program. Select all three options to cut off internet access altogether.<\/p>\n<p>On the \u201cProfile\u201d screen, you\u2019re asked to select when the rule applies. Here, you have three options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Domain:<\/strong>\u00a0The rule applies when a computer is connected to a domain.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Private:<\/strong>\u00a0The rule applies when a computer is connected to a private network, such as your home or small business network.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Public:<\/strong>\u00a0The rule applies when a computer is connected to a public network, such as at a coffee shop or hotel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, for example, if you have a laptop that you use at home (a network you\u2019ve defined as private) and at a coffee shop (a network you\u2019ve defined as public) and you want the rule to apply to both places, you need to check both options. If you want the rule only to apply when you\u2019re at the public Wi-Fi spot at the coffee shop, then just check Public. When in doubt, just check them all to block the application across all networks. When you\u2019ve made your selection click \u201cNext\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/green.cloud\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Screenshot_10.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>10. Give a name to the new rule you just created.
